GI is for Grand Illusion, the name of Bonnie Hunter's (BH) 2014 winter mystery quilt(MQ). She is a quilt designer, who tends to design quilts with scraps and color play. Her mystery quilt started the Friday after Thanksgiving with a clue given every Friday until New Year's Day - the final reveal. It was a unique quilt but not for everyone.
