My current quilting goals is to get the (used) long arm I bought last year before my vision tanked set up and work on quilting the 20 or so tops I moved with me. I have tops, backs, and bindings made, and often quilting designs planned. Many of the tops were ones I made while being part of the Shop Stash First Club (this thread).
I'm basically a year behind on my quilting plans, and they were restricted for the two years previous to that. I've done good on reducing my stash, but I still moved more fabric than I really want to have. Last I year I planned to use my Civil War fabrics in a variety of projects, not sure I'm still feeling that but I have them out and staring back at me.
I might use my birthday exemption to buy 6-7 yards of black fabric, either in assorted yardage or a single piece. I was really taken with the idea of black as the neutral for this year's Bonnie Hunter project. I might want to have that option open to me for next year,

Hi! Thanks for starting this thread, Gemm!
I will be following along again.
If you want to use 2.5” squares, check out Debby Brown’s Color Blocks. She is giving directions for baby quilts this year. She gives one new pattern a month.

What I really need help with is clearing out those scraps of 2 1/2" squares, strips/small pieces of fabric.
I'm not overly fond of the totally scrappy look but lack the extensive stash of scraps to do a more colour coordinated scrappy quilt or throw (that's a good thing, right???? [/QUOTE]
Elaine, those squares and strings disappear fast is you use them in borders or as sashing , just pull a color that goes with the quilt.

Three cheers for me today!!! I was at a quilting group and someone wanted to give me scraps of baby print fabric for "little blocks" and I refused. I hope I was polite enough. Just don't need them, no, no, no! Little does this kind quilter know I have a bin of baby fabrics none of which "play nice together". Maybe I should give her some from my bin of baby yardage. Time to consider what WILL "play nice" with those baby prints, right?

Good for you WMUteach! I would have taken them and then kicked myself for doing so. You are stronger than I am.
So far so good. I was in Joann yesterday with a $5.00 coupon off a $10.00 purchase and found a gorgeous bolt of red sprinkled with mult-coloured confetti on sale for $3.99. I fondled it for a bit then put it back and purchased yarn for the church shawl ministry instead.

MIzkyp, good for you to shop for only what you need! Sometimes that is the hardest because you know you use those colors or prints so why not get just a little more? Strength is needed to restrain to say "no" when the sales person double checks our yardage and asks if that is enough before the fabric is cut. Courage and fortitude everyone.
Monday I will be going to one of my favorite shops for a quilting group meeting. We then get 20% off from the sponsoring shop. A good deal and so tempting to over shop. My plan is to purchase only what I need to finish specific quilts. I will be back in a month with the same discount. I can then get what I need for the next projects, UFO's, WIPs and backs. I will take my strength vitamins before I go and tell my travel partner to watch me closely. NO BARGAIN shopping! I will report in on Monday evening.
