i always think its funny when parents would tell their kids anything that starts with "we dont" (we dont hit people, we dont run in the store, etc)instead of "we shouldnt" or something similar

always think.. well obviously the kid does lol

    1) six one half dozen or the other

It`s "Six of one, 1/2 a dozen of the other"
Which basically translates to: same difference.
Which is to say, it`s all the same.

Nah, you heard it right. Back when folks repaired clothing rather than throw it out and buy new, they knew to repair a small hole before it became a larger one, thus one stitch as opposed to nine stitches.

A very wise man once told me to never say or threaten anything to child that you did not indend to do because if you then do not carry through the child wins the round.
Boy oh Boy I quit asking THAT question.
Given the choice of a spanking and one of my mother's "talks" give me the spanking any day!

One of my Daddy's most common statement was:

    sh_t and 2 is 8. 10's 12. and 6 is fourteen.

    Grandma said "Sweet sugar".

My husband is from South Texas. My family's favorite saying of his is "(I'll do whatever) even if it harelips everyone down on Bear Creek!"

I have no idea what that means or where he picked it up.

My personal favorite, is frequently heard in the upper midwest. I'm from Connecticut and it just confuses me. When you ask someone if they have anything, and they respond in a very cheerful voice: "We sure don't."
