I think it might depend on the age of the girl (friend's daughter). It may be best to get her take on it.
Could be she wants a simple rainbow with a pot of gold at one end.

She's 10. She'd be delighted with anything because right now I'm her shiny new toy and I can do no wrong. LOL

This helps me remember the order:
    ROY G. BIV = Red-Orange-Yellow Green Blue-Indigo-Violet.

I plotted out a "Rainbow after the Storm" quilt using my Tsunami (Giant Storm at Sea) pattern: http://www.quiltscapesquilting.com/patterns.php
    Someday...

Can you check out the pattern called "Color Falls"? It is very pretty, and pretty easy

I, too, have a "thing" for rainbow-themed quilts. My suggestion would be to go to Flickr.com -- here's one search I did for "rainbow quilts" -- http://www.flickr.com/search/?w=all&...w+quilt&m=text. You're bound to find something just perfect there!

Be sure to share with us when you're done.

I like this one and it is so bright and cheerful. Easy to make also. Jan
