I don't think you are strange. I love to starch and press fabric too. The zen of ironing, LOL.

My favorite part is the Dreaming It Up stage. I love to take nature pictures and I see how they can be translated into quilts.
I love fabrics and before I started to teach myself to quilt, I told my husband I must be a collector because I see fabrics I just have to have in my stash. Well, my stash grew over a few years before I started cutting any of them. I was afraid I would ruin them. Then I bought a book on applique and I just got started. I love to embroider so applique suits me. Now I have a few quilt tops done and am ready to learn how to finish them.
I had to medically retire from teaching eight years ago and have missed the creativity of it. Quilting has brought the joy of being creative back into my life. I look forward to the joy of sharing my quilts with my loved ones.

Designing and routine piecing are my favorite parts. My least favorite are the quilting but that might change if I ever get a long arm.

Deciding what pattern I want to use, then the fabric selection and the cutting process. I enjoyed hand quilting for many years and now I am enjoying FMQ very much.

i love the quilt coming alive as i hand quilt.

But the best part is giving it to the person it is meant for ~ especially when i am able to surprise the person!

I like dreaming up the design or even selecting a design. Then selecting the fabrics, sewing and hand sewing the binding are really fun. Well, lets face it, I love the whole process.

I love it when it is finished and I can use it or give it away to someone.
