    Thanks for sharing. I have some of the bird fabric and can't decide what to do with it. Now I have an idea.

    stand back and squint- I don't think it is too dark. The light colors around the birds rally keep it bright and light!

    I think your blocks are just wonderful but also think you will make it pop more if you take the suggestion of alternating the squares, dark/light. It will bring beautiful contrast, then I'd border it with something lighter in perhaps a subtle marble.

    I think it is perfect the way it is. You are putting attention on the bird and the block color. Each block makes the bird appear as if it is in a window. Love the green background which is great for a tree effect.
