Hello all, I am really enjoying the comments and pictures.

Carol in WI, I've been able to play with my blocks a bit and think it works pretty good with no sashing and can make a better size for some people. For me though -- I made the sashing units and I will use them, and even made the project bigger and not smaller. Sometimes I think about my past decisions...

Stitches23, so sorry for your loss. I have a lot of thoughts of my mother in law in the project, and they are all good. I hope you find some comfort in some manner.

Jeannie and others -- I felt earlier that I was really the only one whining about 4-patches and such. Misery loves company and I'm glad to hear negative comments from others...

Is cold outside and so downstairs again but I got all the points on my pointy pieces (prisms) for the sashing on one side. Am about halfway through getting the other side done but once again, even with the heater on I came upstairs for warming up and fresh tea. Other than the cold, the latest northeast storm front misses us. We are hearing from friends and family back in the Pacific Northwest about their snow and such as well.

Carol in WI, my priority with the quilt has been for the block to stand out -- after all, we spent most of our time on that! And there's a delicacy about it that allows less delicate elements to overshadow it. So in your case, I feel as though your sashing block is taking center stage in the left hand photo, and I prefer the balance in the right hand photo. But needless to say, your quilt!

Stitches23, I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope working on the mystery will be comforting for you.

Quote: I agree with you, JeanieG...this quilt seems much more work intensive than others I've made. Now I am trying to decide if I like it best with or without sashes. Any thoughts from you ladies (or gents)?
Definitely with -- I love the star blocks your way of sashing makes.
I too am struggling with the borders. I sort of know what I want to do but doing it is the problem. I discovered a corner HST that is turned wrong and am procrastinating fixing it. Maybe today. Then to start on borders -- at least that is what I'm telling myself. .

I like the picture on the left. It will be a beautiful quilt whatever you decide. Your colors are stunning.

I am done piecing my pointy prisms. I still have just less than half of them to do the final trim and press on the 2nd seam but that's pretty easy. But once again I was at a good stopping point and needed a warm up and a fresh cup of coffee.

I added un-needed complexity to this step and layout. More and more I am convinced that I would be as happy or maybe even more happy if I used just one fabric for the sashing. And as Bonnie does, random neutrals. Still don't like the tiny goose units but still going to use them!

Last year for Indigo Way I did a lot of layout on the floor. Just not up to that down this year -- oof! Hubby is still working the late shift to help the new guy and it really throws off my timing. I am at my best in the mornings, but I will hope to have enough energy to do layout stuff in the afternoon when I can use the bed as my design wall.

I'm being thwarted in my aim to get something done by a lack of sleep at night, which means I then sleep away my daytime work hours. *sigh*

I'll try again today to sew up the rest of the 4-patches, then I really have to start working on the block centers.

I got the clue 2 4-patches sewn. I had been doing them in small batches that I could press immediately, but I just plowed through the rest, so now I have quite a pile to press.

My brain fog seems to have lifted with respect to the center block, so getting going on that.

Body of the quilt complete. Yay! Now to work on the borders.

Oh Stitches23, I really like your limited fabric palette. I think that is great but yes, next is the border!

Good going Joe'sMom. I whined for weeks about pressing those 4-patches. I think I made enough for my border but I guessed on how many I needed with making the quilt longer so a couple more may come back to haunt me.

I think I got a pretty good layout with just the blocks, but it really takes up the bed. Laying out went pretty fast but I wasn't so picky except by the matching fabrics side to side and already had my other thoughts in order. Overall effect is so busy that even though I feel I have a wide range of Gold, didn't need much balancing. Once we get the king size it will fit better. I think I'm going to have to layout the sashing on the floor. Wouldn't really need to if I went random but then again -- I didn't.

I do have all the sashing "prisms" done now, fully trimmed and pressed. I am using the tiny goose centers even though I don't really want to.. again, "Blame Bonnie" is my war cry. So next step is to floor layout and start putting the sashing together.

Lol -- and we aren't to the borders yet!
