Stitches - I love your center! I wish I had not used a very small print for my sashing pieces! The continuity just does not flow for me! I have the side borders on, and am working on the top and bottom. Hope to finish that today, as I am not into Super Bowl! I will be so glad to have this quilt in the flimsy stage!

Stitches - I love the simplicity and quietness of your layout. This is one of the first years I haven't used constants in these mysteries and have come to regret it.

I had decided not to make more four patches to surround the quilt, but then discovered I only needed 16 more, so got busy yesterday and got those made up and pressed. I took today off to work on the MM Game Day quilt so will probably start affixing the borders on this one tomorrow. Then I'll need to decide on the outer border because I'm NOT doing the piano key one.

All block pieces now sewn, but not put together. Have only cut/sewn a few sashing pieces. I am definitely NOT liking my color choices. Glad I am only making half size blocks.

Love seeing everyone's progress and beautiful quilts. Keep up the great work.

I now have my block center fabrics cut and paired. I can't quite picture how these are going to work in my existing blocks, but I will soon see.

Very little progress thus far on the pressing of remaining 4-patches.

I have been thinking that this mystery is something of an anomaly, in that I have not seen many successful border variations in quilts of Bonnie's colorway (whereas normally one does see many border adjustments that work well). I've seen attempts to incorporate melon and aqua borders in with the red and neutral, but I don't think they've integrated well. I'm just now starting to think of the borders myself. Since I've essentially eliminated the aqua presence from the sashing block, I thought I might want to add it back in the border, but no real ideas have developed yet. One thing's for sure -- I'm not making more 4-patches!

Stitches23, your quilt is looking beautiful!
I also snowballed both ends of the sashing strips, but plan to use neutral cornerstones.

I’m finally making some good progress getting my blocks together….I’m more than half way there.
Hope to have a flimsy in a week or two.

Not to brag or anything, but if they gave out ribbons for lost corners, I would win all of them and you would all be jealous of me 🤣.
    Just sayin’

Finished attaching the neutral and checkered border. One more to go. I'm going to use a different method than Bonnie's. I did not cut all those squares when she released her clue, but decided to wait on this one to see how they were going to be used. Instead, I will sew several long strips together, white then red then white then red, etc. either 6 or eight and then cut them crosswise to make a border, attaching several together to get the desired length.

Joe's mom - I too have not seen too many border variations that I truly like. I'm going to finish mine like Bonnie's. With the extra row, it will be a good size for me. I will be glad when this one is finished.

I too will be glad to get finished but can't seem to get off my duff to get it done. I do have all the four patches done and sewn together. Stitches, good idea about how to do the piano key border. I've thought about just doing a red border, but need to audition it after the 4 patches are on. I've also thought about another neutral border but am afraid the 4 patches will "disappear". I worked too hard for that to happen.

LI Diva -- I'm probably neck in neck with your on lost points, but I actually don't care any more. I've started to hate this quilt but won't quit because of how much work I have invested in it. Ah well, some old lady at the nursing home will probably love it.

I made 5 block centers and don't really care for the way they look. Not sure why, because everyone else's look fine to me. I think it might have to do with most of my melons being fairly similar in shade and reading solid, and very similar in value to the majority of my aquas. The two I liked best used the melons that are the least solid, but they are the only two of mine with any significant pattern. I think it's back to my pink/peach shelf area, but with a different eye.
