I've done the same thing, looked just fine with adding more binding using material that was used in the quilt. Go for it.

Great ending to your problem, but I loved the suggestions to just use a different fabric to complete the binding. I'll keep that suggestion in mind if I have the same problem one of these days.

That would be fine to have two different kinds of fabrics for binding.

I have used 'whatever' to finish the binding. Actually I divided it into two pieces and put around a couple of the corners. Gives it a little character and it is just as attractive either way.
