UGLY QUILT...HELP
#41
I'm just finishing off scrappy blocks and am so glad you posted yours. I was planning no sashing but realize now that sashing in a muted color will set these scrappy beauties off. Yours will be a masterpiece (and I hope mine will be also) that you will NEVER see another of!!! SCRAPPIES RULE ............

If your answers are "YES" then re-combine putting 2 of the pink V shape (Chevron) together/pairing with 2 Yellow V shape. Pair the Green Plaid V shapes with the Grey, etc. In other words, SIMPLIFY the blocks by eliminating some colors and giving greater CONTROL over the colors included.
Or try putting all the small blocks 'On Point.'

This is what I thinking as well, then sash it with a blue or green. Just a thought, but whatever you do, it will be great. Thanks for sharing and do share when done. :o)

It's not ugly - just busy. But I think there is a good lesson here in value and print size. Some of the blocks could use a the flower blocks darker and the background lighter. And the navy blue fabric has such large light areas it appears to blend into the background and not accent the piece as much. But I think if you add a dark, solid "reading" sashing, it will highlight your blocks very well. I agree that with other board members that it will be lively and lots of fun when it's finished!

Really nice scrap quilt. I'm not sure about sashing for it. Lay the blocks out on a piece of red fabric; then a piece of blue fabric, etc and see how it looks. You can get an idea of what the sashing would look like by doing that. I think it might be fine without sashing. Put the blocks closer together and see how it looks too. For the inner border, I think blue or red would be good.
Your quilt is definitely not ugly. It's just a beautiful scrappy.
