There. I'm getting off my soapbox. Said my piece, and as I mentioned before, it really doesn't matter...I just had to get it off my chest! (Can you tell I've been surfing Craig's list and ebay?) Thanks! ;)

I Googled the difference between antique and vintage, consulted two different dictionaries and discovered that there is no authoritative word that describes the difference.
That is also true among antiques dealers and dealers in vintage items.
I understand your frustration. I am irked beyond reason by people who say "irregardless" or "irrespective" or who use the word "impact," which is a noun, as a verb.
However, Enlgish is a living language and the meaning of words changes. Who would have thought in 1950 that the word gay would mean something other than ecstatically happy by the year 2000?
Your venting is fine, but if I were you, I would find something that makes an eternal difference to get upset over. froggyintexas

Agree froggee - especially in this era of the language used by many of the younger generations! Not only is a lot of it VULGAR, but the slang is not understandable.
Besides, after just watching the nightly news & what the WHOLE population of Joplin MO is going thru - it seems a little insignificant what is proper or not proper terminology to describe a THING.
May God be with everyone in that area. The pics remind me of pics I remember seeing of WWII England. So sad.
:XD: :XD:

I don't think the 100 years applies to all items...I heard once from an expert on public television that for jewelry the time requirement is less because of it being convertible (sold for gold content or destroyed and stones used elsewise) and less likely to continue in its original state.

People who don't believe in climate change, look around.
All the quilts we've made are going to be needed for victims of the storms. froggyintexas
