You'd be shocked at canadian prices for FQ's at the LQS. Their usual price is $4.00 to $4.50. Specialty FQ's such as Kaffe F. are more and so are hand dyed etc. However regular ones can be found at times at quilt shows for half price and some stores put on their FQ'S at a reduced price that are becoming "outdated" and difficult to sell at full price.

I read someplace yesterday that the price of cotton has gone up 30 % this year alone and still rising. I would only pay up to $2.00 for a fat quarter. I only buy fabrics on sale, search all over the web for quilt shops, free shipping and no taxes help.

JoAnn's fqs are priced less, but most of the fabric isn't very nice (larger weave, rougher texture, etc). I would not pay $6 for a fq unless I only had one block to finish a huge quilt and couldn't find the fabric anywhere.
I usually pay from $2.50 to $2.75 for fat quarters. sometimes you will find a quilt store that will cut fat quarters from yardage you like. It doesn't hurt to ask. I am with you on Joann's fabric, some of it is okay but some isn't great quality.

Some are at $6.50 and bidding isn't over yet!

I think my LQS is getting $2.75/$3.50 also for FQ's and recently posted a notice that they will no longer cut FQ's which ones do you want, I'll look to see if they have any that you are missing, (I'm going back tomorrow, (was there today already) I saw a bin filled with things I want to go through).

usually 99c sometimes $2.25 if I REALLY REALLY can't live without it. seems a waste to buy FC on ebay. by the time you pay for it and postage you might as well go buy a yard of fabric

That is how I look at it too..I subtract shipping charges from the price I am willing to pay and use that for my highest bid.

Last year at the Long Beach International quilt show there was a booth that sold $1.00 fat quarters. The quality was good. They were not the cheap, can see through fabrics. Need I say how popular it was? I am hoping that they return again. I have been saving my dollars. My real problem is that I really don't have room for another fat quarter.

Me too. Am on limited income so wait until I have enough saved to buy enough to meet the free shipping amount. connectingthreads.com is $50. and Fabric.com is only $35. Will sometimes hit JoAnns for sales or coupons, but on line is easier and have not been disappointed in color or fabric quality yet.
