All of that being said, I have a grand total of less than $2500 in all of my machines, and that includes my Pfaff 1200 quilting machine and frame. I rarely spend more than 30-40 bucks on a machine, and more often it's 15-20 bucks. ("Rarely" being the operative word there...it's been known to happen)
Now....let's talk! If you happen to trip over that Featherweight at a yard sale...buy it and send it to me, k? I'll pay you back!! ;)
I agree! I have less than $2500 in all mine and same goes on the FW :) and I am the same age.

I never counted how many machines I have. Here goes...Viking Designer SE (embroidery, FMQing, my main machine), serger (bought used from a friend), singer treadle-inherited(tv sits on it's cabinet), 2 featherweights (1st-paid alot for, fixed up, 2)stumbled on another with a table and buttonholer at a great price, supposed to sell first one I bought, just haven't yet)I use my featherweight for classes, and all my piecing, a small babylock with fancy stitchs, I use only for classes when I need a zigzag machine. A 301 that was given to me by a friend's family after she passed away.(still need to clean it up before I can try it out) Yikes there is another old singer I bought to make a lamp out of. And one more old (small)singer I lent to a young friend who wants to learn to sew. Wow I own alot of machines(9)and didn't realize it.

I'm always looking at machines when I go out "junkin". Right now I have 9 machines. 3 Brothers, 1-1943 Domestic, 1-1932 National, 1-1990's Singer, 1-1970's from the Spiegle Catalog (my 1st machine my Mom bought me) 1-1947 FW, and 2-Sergers I have no idea how to use. I also have a Redeye coming from Ca. Funny thing is my Hubby has no idea how many machines I have. I think I need to stop.

I have 3 sewing machines and 2 sergers.
#1. CS-8150 Brother Embroidery machine
#2. XR-65T Brother Sewing machine
#3. 1034D Brother Serger
#4. 14SH654 Singer Serger (inheritance from grandmother)
#5. White Westinghouse-they do not even make it anymore.
The 5th machine is going to my sister-in-law in TN, as soon as I can afford to send it to her.
My two cents worth.

My list just got smaller.
1)Last week I saw on FreeCycle someone in need of a sewing machine - gave her a Montgomery Wards Signature old mechanical w/ attachments & instructions (had been given to me recently by friend who got new machine)
2)Also gave away a Singer 3311 So Fro - given to me by employee @ drug store (did not know her - heard me talking about quilting w/ a friend) - went to quilter I met @ yard sale
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Remaining @ my home:
Singer 201-2
Singer 66 Red Eye 1922 treadle
Kenmore mechanical 1970's - my old workhorse
Serger
Babylock Quilter's Choice - won at LQS grand opening
Babylock 9 - small for travel
MIL's 1968 Singer Touch & Sew for 1 son - going to him soon
Mom's 1970 Singer in Art Deco cabinet
1960s New Home/Janome in cabinet, $20.00 @ Goodwill for DIL - going soon
1968 Singer Touch & Sew in cabinet $25.00 @ Thrift Store for daughter - going soon
Singer 1970s - giving it away to another friend
-------------------------------------------------------------------
So, had 13, 2 gone, 4 leaving soon, will have 7 remaining w/ total spent about $1000 over 30 years
BTW, for 30 years had only 1 machine & managed fine - now they seem to drop in w/out my looking or asking.
Do not have a Featherweight - maybe someday.
