I am totally flabbergasted by the la's actions. Her reasoning is absolutely inexcusable, and makes no sense. As others have said, she SHOULD have called you before hacking off that much of your quilt.
I would politely but firmly tell her where she went wrong and what she SHOULD have done instead, then I would absolutely take my business elsewhere. How would you feel if she did it again, or something equally as upsetting? You already know she has no common sense and not much integrity as a quilter.

No, I can't believe any quilter would take such liberties. I'm not sure I would have paid her or at least not the full amount. But maybe you should have sewn the sheets together the size they needed to be for your top. By the way, you might want to consider not using sheets for your backs. They are not made/woven in a way the needle goes through the fabric the correctly (the needle can hit a fibers and break them and that can in time weaken your back and cause deterioration (that is what we have been told by fabric manufactuers).

SOOOO SORRY - That is AWFUL - & I agree 100% w/all these comments.
I am curious - when you realized what she did if you said anything to her & even tell her it wouldn't fit the bed it was made for now? And if you did discuss it, what was her reaction/reasoning? Did she at least discount her price for screwing this up?
Sorry, but I WOULD NEVER USE HER AGAIN & would let her know in no uncertain terms, how unhappy I was w/the quilt.
Hope you are able to add to it so it can actually be used for the purpose it was intended.
Have a blessed day
