I agree that the Salvation Army or women's shelter would be better choices over Goodwill.

How kind of you, I would vote for the woman's shelter. I am sure it would find many uses there. If you really want to inspire quilting, I would also include a VERY simple quilting pattern, and if you have some, a few fabrics from your stash, scrapes ect. But just the machine would be wonderful.

I second the idea of not giving to the Goodwill! I could tell you stories about them that would shock you. I have several times tried to find out how and who they help besides thierselves to no avail. Salvation Army on the other hand is a very good place to donate to. Look at what the Good will is doing, building new stores one after another in malls and other places. You are providing the money for that.

We have a church nearby that has a home that they built and staff where people come to live and stay until they get back on their feet. Maybe you could try churches.

I took a ton of crafting supplies to my local Boys & Girls club this morning and still have a bunch more to gather up. They were so appreciative. If I had an extra machine, that's where it would go.

Here too in WV! I thought I was adding this to the message about how much Goodwill was charging but it didn't work.

I love the idea of the womens shelter, then many could get use of it.
