What a kind man to be thinking of others while he is so burdened. Bless him.

I guess I'm the only uninform person on the board, but what kind of machine is a DAQ?
If he won't come to your house for dinner, can you take dinner to him?

It's a Design a Quilt. They actually aren't being made anymore.

What I was given was a DAQ on a 12' table. I haven't ever had a quilting machine so this will be an experience for me. I read somewhere that the company went out of business. As for now this will work for me. I am very new at this and will use it until I can purchase a different one later on maybe. I have read a few people's comments and one lady has had hers for about 15 years and is still using it.

I was also given lots of batting and a large spool of thread plus a kit for a Dresden Plate quilt. ;) Was like Christmas in our house.....for me. ;)

    Just had to share.
    Hugs,
    Angie
I think something made with the machine would be wonderful to him. Maybe make a label with both wife and grandson mentioned - as a matter of fact, when you do it let me know and I will embroider a beautiful label to put on the back.
I also had a Design a Quilt machine. He was the first home machine designer - forget his name.

Thank you Judi. ;) Yeah, he's now in jail/prison from what I read. Or he may be out by now, not sure. Dan Puckett right?

I don't know what you mean by setting on oil, and I don't know what sort of machine a DAQ is. But I have a longarm and I oil it at 6 different points every day, sometimes several times a day if I am quilting for a few hours. They use a lot of sewing machine oil. I also grease my machine once a month.

You need a manual to know how to service your mahine. A longarm is like a car--you need to maintain it well to have it work well.

What do you grease your machine with? The Design a Quilt sits on a pan of oil. ? I hadnt ever heard of it either but thats how this one is made. I just don't know what kind of oil to put in it and I don't know how full to fill it.
