One without arms is best. Arms just get caught under the sewing table top and really aren't needed. You should get a good quality office chair also with ergo adjustments. They are made for long periods of sitting and are better than your standard sewing chair. Have a Happy Birthday

No arms -- they take up valuable sewing room real estate.

I used to have an office chair with arms. Never again. the arms were always in the way. Jo Ann's last year had a special on a sewing chair, and guess what I ordered it. I saved 100.00 on this chair as I have seen it listed on other sites for 230.00. It has a hidden storage under seat and casters. So Far I really enjoy this chair. Good Luck in your search.

I have one. I could not live without it. My DH had one from an office he closed . it is wonderful It has arms but not
neccesary. I also have a metal typewriter table on wheels with little shelves that fold down. I made a padded top for my
table so I can press while at my sewing machine. NO more getting up and down to use the flatiron.

I, too, go with the "no arms" crowd and also agree to get one with five feet so it is sturdy. I would go to a local quilt store and buy a regular sewing chair that has several adjustments to fit your body. They are expensive but think of how many hours you will be spending sitting in that chair. Happy Birthday and have fun shopping for your gift.

With arms will be better. In addition I would like to suggest the use of pressure mattress is helpful for good body shape.

I agree no arms mine has arms, because i thought I wanted them, as othees say they just get in your way, and definitely pick the chair out yourself to be sure it is comfortable for you
