I also have mixed batiks with other cottons in a quilt. I feel the batiks can add interest to what may be an ordinary looking quilt. Heck, I just finished a wallhanging that had cottons, upholstery fabrics and faux suede in it. Then embellished it with beads. I love it. I guess I'm a bit unorthodox, but they are "mine"!

I took a class to make a crazy quilt and we used many different types of materials not generally used
in quilting and it turned out great....

I've never had a problem mixing batiks and "regular" fabrics either. I agree it's your quilt you get to make the rules!!

I mix all kinds of fabrics on certain projects. The Quilt Police are met at gun point at my house because they weren't invited. I once entered a quilt show, I was way ahead of my time as I was doing circles and pebbles and because my quilting thread crossed it's self I didn't even place, LOL. No problem for me. About 10 years later my quilting on this quilt became and is all the rage. So do as you like and don't worry about what someone else thinks, as long as your happy with it, it won't matter.

I mix batiks with other fabrics all the time and have never had a problem quilting. I sometimes wash and sometimes don't and it all seems OK. I also think mixing adds interest to your projects.

When I use batiks in my quilts, I almost always mix non batiks and have not had any problems quilting them on my Janome.

It would give the quilt some WOW so I would mix them.

Batiks have a much tighter weave, and may act differently when quilted. If my long arm quilter said her machine doesn't like the mix, and if you want her to quilt your quilt, then I would listen to her. Personally, batiks seem so different in nature than prints, I like a quilt with just batiks, not prints mixed in, but that's just my choice.

I also mix them, never a problem. I have a 10' shelf with nothing but Batiks on it. I really love Batiks. Then even made great shirts.
