I am awaiting delivery of my Handy Quilter Fusion, this is my first long arm and right now I am looking for all the help I can get. Doing a lot of reading and watching videos.

I have a Gammill Classic Longarm machine. I bought it ten years ago from Cowles Quilting in Vermont. I've never had any major problems with it at all and it's a great machine. I had the new tracking system put on it a year ago and that improved the handling of it a whole lot. So much easier to drive now.
I've been quilting for customers for ten years now and absolutely love what I and totally enjoy not having to drive somewhere else to work!

You will love that machine, if I were in the market for a new longarm I would seriously consider a Handi Quilter, the only thing that would stop me would be the shorter throat space..wish they would come out with the 26" throat. I think they handle the best of any machine I've ever test drove..very smooth..great stitches etc. Enjoy!! At my age, very close to 70 yrs old, I won't likely make a change but if I were younger....

I had a Gammill Vision 18-8 on 12' frame for two years. I loved longarm quilting but was never truly thrilled with the Gammill...we just never really "bonded." I ordered an Innova 26" with Lightening Stitch regulator on a 12' frame at the International Quilt Festival in Houston last month. The Gammill sold within 2 weeks and I picked up my new Innova on my birthday, December 6! I spent all weekend setting it up (my choice) and have quilted two quilts this past week and a half. I LOVE MY INNOVA!! It is an awesome machine on an awesome frame and we "bonded" instantly!!

Hello Beth - can I get your advice. I'm new to the group and am considering the same set-up as you have - Innova 22" on 12' frame. Can I ask you what the biggest size quilt is that you can get on the frame and how you cope with the roll under the 9" of throat height? Would appreciate any advice or opinions you can give me before I part with my cash!!

Dear Lorraine, The largest quilt I have done on my frame was about 105 by 105. I was not cramped at all...well except for the extra STUFF I had on the frame! (stencils, spools of thread...) I have them picked up now, but in the heat of quilting I am not the best at keeping the area tidy! I don't remember having much trouble with the quilt on the take up bar and I did a double batt (two fairly thin..I can get you the names if you like) This is my 3rd frame and 4th machine in my long arming journey. I can tell you I won't be changing companies again! HOWEVER, you need to try as many as you can. Its like picking out a car...one will suit me better and a different one will suit you. I suggest you join the Yahoo Innova group and ask your question there also. There are many quilters on that group that quilt as a business and they might have tips for you as well.

PS I tried to answer this from my email and it didnt show up here. My excuses if it ends up posting twice!
