    I am going to answer my own question...lol I have a pad under my area rug to keep it from slipping and it works really well...all your suggestions made me think of it. I considered cutting off a piece, but it isn't really large enough as it is, so didn't do that. But I am sure it will work...I can not move that rug unless I take up the pad...which is a thick rubber-ish material.

    I just ordered a new mouse pad..tried the one I have now and it worked.

    I use the rough side of pre-glued gripper strips, attached to the bottom of my sewing pedal and have not chased the pedal on carpet since. I got the idea from a lovely member on this board.
    If I were on hardwood, I would buy a tub of "skid-grip" that you paint on the back of hand hooked rugs to keep it from sliding, and dab it on the bottom of the pedal.

    I have a cheap rug on the floor and then I put a very heavy brick in front of the pedal. NO MORE MOVING OF THE PETAL.
