Wicked! I'm going to have to order that book to take along. I'm so enjoying everyone's suggestions. I wanted to ask here because sometimes a book or searching the web where we stop doesn't tell me if the store is one not to be missed. By asking for favorites, I know I'll get those special places. I'll be able to think about the person who suggested it and keep these travels even more special than they are in my mind right now.

There's also a great place to get your lunch, The Bovina Cafe, just across Interstate 20 from Stitch N Frame. It's totally "local color", but the food is great and they have wonderful desserts that come with your meal. Fun place to eat.
Sewbizgirl - I wish I had thought of this last winter! We went to Vicksburg for a few days. We stayed at the campground associated with the Casino. We had two tornado warnings while there! I wish I had known, I certainly would have ventured out for a quilt shop

I don't think you could go wrong by popping your head into any one of Maine's 36 independently-owned quilt shops. Just "google" Quilt Shops of Maine. Have fun on your journey and be sure to keep us updated on your travels.
We LOVE Maine! We go at least once a year most often to Lake Pemaquid in Demariscotta. I grew up in Massachusetts on the NH boarder so Maine was often a day or weekend trip. Now I have new places to check out Thank you

Plus if DH is a Civil War fan, there's Wilson Creek Battlefield outside Springfield and Pine Ridge Battlefield just south of Branson in Arkansas.

Do visit the shops in Franklin NC. There is A Stitch in Time with glorious lines of fabrics, batiks, brights and some wool and other types of fabrics. Another shop called Sassy Stitches, recently changed names from Deb's Cats & Quilts carries a lot of Civil War fabrics, batiks and they are getting more brights. You cannot miss them. There is also a craft fabric store Sew Creative that has some fabrics. Both quilts shops will burn your credit card up!

There are also great quilt stores in the Orlando area. Also, in Florida near Orlando is Bernina store in Lake Mary, a Janome store in Winter Garden and several other stores in Central Florida.

Spend a day in Hamilton, Missouri, so you can visit the Missouri Star stores.
