ok here's a pic of the special bobbin holder, it's set at the factory to a different tension set just for fmq on the 6600. it has a little blue mark on it instead of the red mark. the other side i put fingernail polish on. it made the world of different for me, i then set my speed on the slide thing to about three fourths of maximum then push the foot pedal all the way and it won't go any faster than you have that slide thing set. then try to move your fabric at a constant speed. do the above and i bet you won't ever have any eyelashes again. i don't. hope this helps you as much as it did me. i think the new bobbin holder with the blue arrow retails for about $40.00. but after using it and forget to put the original one back in, you absolutely cannot sew with the blue marked one, it does make a difference.

Janome has a fix for this problem. It is a new bobbin case that has a blue arrow on it. The screw is set tighter than the regular bobbin case is set. There is also another darning foot that works really well for freemotion quilting.
Also clean out under the bobbin case with every project, lots of lint build up there.

It is a quilting frame that supports my 6600P. You can see it at newjoyquilting.com. I also lurk at the Yahoo group for New Joy. I would love a long-arm, but need to master this first. I have done several practice quilts and recently finished my daughter's quilt. I am about to load up another quilt that will go to my neighbor.

The new bobbin case for the 6600 has a blue mark on it instead of the red mark and it has 40% less tension on the bobbin thread.. I paid $16 for mine. :lol: They also have a FMQ foot which goes for about $25 ( you can get the set for about $45) but you really only need the bobbin case to improve your FMQ :thumbup: LOL Liz
