That is just beautiful. I found the one in the attached photo in the Smokey Mts. It was next to the front door to the cabin. I'd never seen one before. Meg

What you have here is a Luna Moth. You are very blessed to have seen one. They do not live long after they are fully out. They have no mouths and cannot eat. They just lay their eggs and pass on. I had one here a few years ago. I hope to see another one. I am sure that it laid eggs here somewhere since they don't go very far but have not seen any more around that hatched.

Yes, I looked it up a soon as I got back home. I saw it right after my daughter was married. It was so fuzzy. So pretty. Intricate in detail. Meg
