In 1971 the Whitney Museum of American Art in NYC mounted an exhibit of quilts. For the first time, quilts went from bed covers to respected art. This event joined the feminist movement as anonymous women were recognized as artists.

What about the quilt "kits". I collect and do the cross stitch. The oldest I have was made in 1969. Many have found these at estate and garage sales. However, most seem to be from the clearing of grandma's sewing room and the instructions are missing. I have 45+ of these, all with instructions.
