Default February check in

My two UFOs did not get back from the long arm quilter in time for the February count. But they will show up as March finishes. I dove into an unfinished project for March on Saturday and would love to have that one finished this month.

Keep whittling away at your pile, quilty friends. It will feel marvelous to be free of the nagging whispers from an unfinished quilt.

Well I had 2 UFOs from 5-6 years ago, both large quilts. The Cathedral Windows was just in long strips of blocks but I now have them together as a whole top. I still had to stitch down all the windows (flaps) around the centers which was what caused me to stop working on it altogether all those years ago. The last row stitching down the flaps just about killed me due to the weigh of the quilt. It's 9 blocks across x 10 rows down. Then I got a hair brain idea to add 3 sashings instead of just one and a 6" border. Now it's hanging up waiting to be quilted but I have other quilts, mostly large ones in front of it as I have no one to give this quilt to.

The other UFO is one I designed around a panel but got side tracked with the pieced sashing, couldn't get it to fit correctly so I pushed it aside for umpteen years. Once I get caught up with the quilt tops getting quilted, I'll pull it out as I have an idea how to remedy my problem with fitting.

The Cathedral WIndows came out at 95 x 102 using Missouri Star Quilts method.

OH, MY! that cathedral windows quilt would be heavy, Snooze. But it will be magnificent when finished.

Thanks for posting pictures and progress reports. I enjoy looking at the pictures and reading the posts.

I got 2 of my UFOs quilted. I’m a straight line quilter and don’t have many quilts under my belt that I have finished. I make tops mostly for my church group. I have one more quilt sandwiched and hope to get it quilted this month. It’s definitely a learning curve to quilt the tops according to the distance recommended on the batting I had in my stash. Far from perfect but I love them anyway!

Those quilts keep you warm whether they are perfect or not. And they are better done than sitting in a pile. Keep up the good work and you’ll be caught up in no time.

Snooze2978, congratulations on finishing your cathedral top! (I am fairly confident that is one quilt I will never make.)

My quilty friend who is out and about and belongs to several quilting groups came by today and helped me take inventory of and re-label legibly my boxes of 'kits' (quilts I have cut and sometimes begun construction on). I gave her a backing, some yardage and 22 kits, and now I can read what's in all of my kit boxes and they are all light enough for me to lift in a pinch. Feels good!

Joe'smom, what a wonderful way to clear our your UFOs. You must be breathing deeply with that much space freed up. Now you can sew, sew, sew and enjoy what is at your finger tips.
