Where can i go to one of these fabric giveaways? Up here in Northern Maine we only have Marden's salvage or run to Wally world. Even a fab swap between friends yeilds the same stash.

Good gosh!! Why don't they donate it to some quilting group that makes quilts for people who have lost their homes to fire or something? What a waste. I am so glad that you took some home to use.

This is a fabulous idea for anywhere in the country!

I guess we would have to research manufacturers/distributors in our own areas and call to see what they do with fabrics they want to discard.

I wonder how this group pays for their warehouse, utilities, vehicles, transport costs, etc. I see they have volunteers, but someone has to foot the bill for the costs involved.

If anyone is going to go there, please ask these questions. I am very interested in how this is done and it might be worth the effort to start one in New England.

Fabmo.org has a mailing list. I found it under the links listing on the left side of the page.

We have nothing like that in South Dakota. We did have a Fabric Warehouse that closed. But that rqg4ic was kind pf expen. We have Wally World which seems to only deal in polar fleece, A Hancock, and a Quilt Connection that is kind of spendy.
