Two years ago I ripped up ALL the carpeting and put in the vinyl planks. It was a different brand (Novak?) andf it was only $1.00 a square foot. I LOVE it. easy to clean, doesn't get scratched from the dogs nails and if a "plank" does get damaged easy to replace a single plank. I put a dark cherry "wood" in my downstairs (semi-basement) and a natural oak everywhere else. even bathrooms and kitchen. it really looks great. If you think about it carpet is probably the dirtiet thing in your house, even if you vacuum every day. I also did all the work myself, so saved any installation charge.

In my previous house the floors in every room(even the kitchen but except the bathrooms) where the same. It looks nices, it's better to clean and if you think it looks a little cold anyway then you can always add a nice carpet in your living space.

My DH says white carpeting....you gotta be kidding!!!!! We do have an off white carpet in our bedroom but when we built our house we had a good sheet vinyl laid on most of the floors in the house. It has held up well for almost 20 yrs now. I have had people feel it because they couldn't believe it wasn't wood. My only regret is not getting a lighter color. What you have picked out is beautiful!
The only problem is in the winter, the floors are colder. I have large area rugs I use then. The floors are so much easier to take care of then carpet. I do love the feel of carpet but it would have had to be replaced by now and my vinyl floors still look good!!

I'm with you, same thing on all floors, makes it look bigger and easier to clean. If you want to break up some areas they have
beautiful area rugs out that would coordinate with your furniture, wall colors etc. Carpeting is such a pain (although it is warmer on your bare feet).

I think perhaps you both can be winners....
You can do your concept and there are always throw rugs or even very large area runs for change.
With 3000sf of space, I don't think that you really need something to make it look larger.....
whichever the choice, I am sure that it will be just lovely...
good luck, mj

My son put this flooring in his house because of pet damage to the carpeting. It looked great, but he lives out of state & I do not know about the durability.
As for WHITE carpet, it is SO Impractical. My mother insisted on white carpet in her bedroom when they built a house in the 70's. It was a Bit**!!! to keep clean, if you'll pardon my expression. As the daughter who had to vaccumm and clean the house, Please do not put yourself OR your husband through white carpet... Just my "two floors worth.
