Ha! I always cut my strips on straight of grain. When they are sewn to foundation square that is also cut on straight grain, what does it matter???

I love the black and white sashing.

Consider yourself saluted. The ladies here seem to think it is an ok quilt, so I'm going to go with that. Thanks for encouraging words.

I cut the strips on the straight grain and then pieced them diagonally and cut them down to 12" squares. Didn't use a backing fabric to sew them to, just sewed them in strips with batting and backing and then lap quilted.

Thanks, I think that helps it. I did it in order to regain control of the thing. It was blowing my mind with all those colors.

Doesn't matter, all that matters is that you got a wonderful, colorful quilt out of it. All that really matters is that you like it. I know if I made a quilt that beautiful, I would love it and be very proud of it.
