Hi! I have hand sewn with friends and I have lugged my sewing machine, etcccccccccc.... around but I prefer to sew at home. When I finally get my car packed with everything I need, I feel like I am moving out. Then, lugging into wherever I am going to sew with friends or classmates and it's just too much. I have a hard time settling into a sewing mood, talk too much, feel odd about taking my shoes off and sewing...

I recently came home from sewing with a group of friends and told my DH that I don't think I am going to do that anymore. OR, 'if' I do I will just take my hand sewing with me. I just don't enjoy the packing, unpacking, repacking and then putting it all away when I get home. Maybe it is because of my age... who knows.

It IS encouraging beyond words in getting together with others to share and show what we each have been creating. I do always enjoy that. I learn sew much from others. Great question. Thanks~!

I sew alone. My only company is my Jane Austen or Tom Selleck movies. If I'm interrupted with a phone call, I can just pause it. Yes, I can enjoy favorite movies over and over.

Same here, but, occasionally I will go to a friend's house and four - five of us quilt together, or my one girlfriend will come to my house.
Those days are far and few in between...I like my space and my music, not that I'm not sociable, but my quiet time is limited and when I'm quilting/sewing, I don't like to be interrupted, especially if I'm working on a specific project with a time frame, which I seem to be doing alot lately.

I only have a couple friends who sew & we all sew alone.I can't concentrate on sewing while talking & I'd be dangerous with a rotary cutter in hand while listening to a gab fest :-)

I sew mainly alone, although the computer is on at the end of the room, and I have a nice view. I meet with friends once a fortnight to sew together and chat about quilting.

I sew alone. Don't know anyone who quilts. The one quilt shop I can get to doesn't have sit 'n sews. The other (so beautiful) quilt shop has a bridge between me & it. I can't do bridges, or I would be All about their gatherings and classes.

I'm more motivated when sewing with friends. Once a week 4 or 5 women get together, we learn new techniques, solve problems and make recommendations. We have a great time.

When I lived in Canada for a few years, I sewed with my next door neighbor, who became my best friend. We got tons done. Now that I'm home, I sew alone and surely do miss the fun I had sewing with my friend!
