"Mariner's Compass Quilts: Setting a New Direction" by Judy Mathieson. My avatar is from this book. I have made just about every quilt in this book.

It has everything you need! It is a large binder book with individual chapters. From measuring fabric to all the "how to's" you'll ever need. Well worth the price!!!
I love this book too! it is my go to book.

I just wondered, what do you think some of the best quilting books are? What are your personal favorites and if you have time, why do you like them?
    Thanks!
Ruth McDowell's books about piecing pictorial flowers and landscapes. She is one nice lady! It is a different approach to cutting and sewing pieced pictures. It is not appliqe, and she shows how to make large dramatic elements in her quilts.

lynette Jensens books are great. Lots of pictures and
hints. I really like the fact that she tells you what each
block should measure when finished. The directions are
very clear. Brenda from Wadesville In

I love Kim Diehl's books. I love her mixture of piecing and applique on a quilt.

I have lots of books on quilting, and I also subscribe to several quilting magazines. But I keep referring back to the books I have from 25 years ago. They were not using rotary cutters then and the templates were all traced on cardboard or plastic.I like traditional block patters so I draft a copy of the block pattern from the book and I make it to the size I want.
