oh to answer the question; I prefer the quiet. I only sew binding or just started some embroidery and always got some crocheting going on while I watch TV shows in the evening

When my husband set up our old dining room to be my sewing room, we situated the sewing machine so I can see the tv if I want to. I usually have something on, but also have a cd player and a record(remember those?) player in there too.
Also, the elliptical is right next to mye sewing machine, so I have to choose one...hmmm... sew or sweat? I almost always choose sew!

My DH bought me one of the IPhone player things! You just set your phone in the front and whatever you can listen to on your phone plays through the speakers...so, I downloaded an audiobooks program. Now, I can select a book, hook it up and listen to it all day. Just last week, I "read" "Uncle Tom's Cabin", and before that, "The Tragedy of Puddin'Head Wilson."

Laundry, Laundry, Laundry. I love doing laundry because the washer and dryer are in my sewing room, Gives me an excuse to go hide out all day. :-P

I use to sew in the dinning room and could hear the TV and see the reflection in a glass covered picture. I never watch daytime TV so it was just in the evening. Now I do my sewing in a small bedroom and have brought the Sirius radio in so I can listen to Classic Country. Nothing like a little Hank Williams or Merle Haggard to get your toes a tappin.

I get Audio Books from the Library, and listen while I'm sewing. Time goes by really fast...
