Maybe everyone on this board needs to contact consumer affairs on the TV channels and the newspapers and complain. That may be the only way to get the Wal Marts that have not put the fabric back or have such low quality of precuts to hear the people who matter. Quilters that is who matter.

I was at my Walmart and got a little "fix" too! They have a variety of qualities...as usual you just have to feel. I had some flannel in my cart that I put back...just didnt feel right but got some great fallish colored cottons.
Only problem...had a hard time finding someone to cut.

I cruised the sewing/craft department of the local WM about a week ago after seeing some previous posts about fabric being stocked again. Nothing, nada, zip, zilch...not even one bolt!!! I live in an urban area with several nice LQS's, so maybe the competition is too much for WM?

Just came back from Walmart with this :)))

We just got the fabric back. it is a small area, but the lady told me they want to see the respond and will increase the area if it is good.

There is another thread that started about 2 weeks ago about where the Wal Marts are that have fabric departments again. I have been keeping up with the posts, and have an alphabetic list of all the stores, by state. I'll add the ones on this thread to the same list.

If anyone wants a copy of the list, just PM me with your e-mail address, and I'll be glad to send it to you.

I was talking to the Craft Dept Mgr at my local Wal-Mart and she told me that every store will have a fabric dept within the next year.

I know that cost is a big factor in how much we quilters can spend on our hobby, but I still prefer quality over price. The Walmart in my area has recently returned to selling fabric, but I personally won't buy it there because most of it feels cheap to me. Of course, I am comparing this to the quality cotton fabric my sister gets in her newly opened quilt shop. We all have to do what we have to, but I would encourage you to shop at quilt shops whenever possible.

Our Walmart has a big banner posted outside the store high up on the wall facing the parking lot. It says, "we listened, cut fabric is back!" Yeah!

My WalMart has 2 yards sections wrapped and some charms packs and other small fabric selections but no bolts. It is all precuts. I hope they carry bolts again. Went to Hobby Lobby and JoAnns yesterday looking for cross stitch things but checked out their Christmas fabric. In both places, it's higher priced than their regular fabric. That just irks me. Although I saw some lovely stuff, I didn't buy because of the higher price per yardage than the other fabric. At Hiobby Lobby it was about $3 more per yard than regular calico.

The Walmarts that still have fabrics have really nice theme prints. One time I bought some great dog prints on line for a friend who raised wolfhounds. Later her DH found the same print at Wally's for 1/3 the price. We did note that it was on a lower quality of fabric, but that did nt matter for the use she had in mind.
