I would not have it!!! I hate it when that happens. I have done it before with a puff quilt and was not happy. Then they had the never to criticize the additional piece that I added to the back. They wanted a whole piece. GRRRR!
Your cat is just gorgeous.

I was just sitting here thinking how quilters finish a quilt and that it is. Who wants to take it apart and make it bigger. You deserve SAINT GRANDMA HOOD! They have no idea the work involved. But you did a wonderful job. I am sure he will treasure it for years to come. He may even bring it back for re-enforcement in years to come. My mom made my oldest son a quilt out of flannel. Well he had her put two new backing on it. I currently have the centre part in my sewing room. I need to put something under the Mickey Mouse fabric to stablize it and then make him a small quilt out of it. The Mickey Mouse fabric is really worn but I would like to give it back to him again.

I love your sun/moon design & I'm going to take time to draw it out because I have this space panel fabric as well! An idea just came to me to enlarge your sun/moon and put it on the backing. I puchased glow-in-the-dark thread to go with it.
Your story is the heart of a grandma. You made a great quilt and I think you should tuck it along with this thread to give to your DGS and his mother when he is a bit older. We understand the time, frustration and love that went into this quilt. Thanks for sharing.
