By machine. They are half hexagons. Much easier!

The border was actually a 'happy accident'. I didn't have enough of the fabrics to make the border go all the way around, and I didn't want to introduce any other fabrics on this one. So I was forced to do the broken border, but I LOVE the way it turned out. And it gave me big white corners in which to FMQ the big flowers.
