    Thanks for the advice and the good words of encouragement. I test drove a new Janome at the quilting shop, and I was amazed at how easily the fabric fed through the machine and how even the stitches were. I really look forward to using the new technology of that kind of machine.

    I do love the colors and the pattern. As far as a new sewing machine --- don't think you have to have the latest and greatest. Looks like you've done a good job with your 24 year old one!!!!!! There are a lot of great features on the new ones, but the old ones are heavy duty work horses. When visiting my daughter in Alaska I learned that there are women there who live in areas that do not have electric so they are still using treadle machines to do their quilting.
