I tried this too - did only 3 blocks as I used the same fabric for all three (left overs). Mentioned it on the Stashbusters board -- someone there suggested starting with 9 1/2" blocks, because when you cut into 9 pieces they will all be 3" square. Hadn't tried this yet, but might make the whole process quicker. Jenny started all her cuts from the middle out to the edges.

Will be using this as a runner on a small book case. It fits it perfectly.

Did starch my fabric prior to any cuts -- and used a dry iron when pressing my seams. This is a real winner of a pattern -- there are several choices of what you want the block to look like after cutting into the 9 pieces.

Really like your choice of dark and light -- gives an additional balanced dimension to the pattern.

Interesting. I have seen numerous post about this quilt. Wish you had a photo of the block before it was cut.

I used the 10 inch blue and lt. yellow squares as in the tutorial by Jenny. Some wanted the measurements for a 12 and 1/2 inch block instead of 12 inch so I did the tutorial for it on QB. There are step by step photos of that size. It is in lavender and white but will give you an idea of what it looks like under construction.

I was one of the lucky ones at her class in early May when this 'block' was discovered. So fun to see it hit the 'net and everyone (well most everyone) liking it. I too, am thankful for the bias edges because I can fudge just a little if I need to. Will be fun to see how everyone's turn out. :-)

Thanks for the info and picture. I worry about the bias edges but you make a good point. Beautiful quilt.
