I have already started on my selvage stash, I love them! I did a sample block with a friend that wanted to learn how to do them. I also did a project for our quilt group Valentine Day Gift exchange. It was canceled because of the snow, so I got to keep it. I found some beautiful carnations that were just the right color.

My selvage stash, some mine and some from friends.

The heart is made with selvages, the rest with the fabric that came with the selvages. Used the quilt as you go method for the strips. I used foundation piecing and machine applique for the heart..

That heart selvage mini is just adorable! Good girl for saving all those selvages! I love them too! They are so interesting looking. Have 5 boxes of fabric in the attic that need selvages removed -- didn't think I would ever get around to using it. That's wonderful you found those carnations for your mini - they are just so cute!! Bet you can't wait to get started on another!

Ok, so how do you deal with all the seams on such skinny pieces? Or do you mesh the "finished" edges with no seam allowance? These projects are awesome, especially the quilts!

Mine are all cut wide enough to show fabric even when pieced together. This sample of a German selvage I cut 1 inch wide! The name is also large print too!

I just use 1/8" seams, no meshing the edges. Yes, these are some great projects to give us some ideas! here is the pic

I just saw a place where you can buy selvages! 100 4" to 6.5" pieces for $9.99.{out of stock, by the way} How many 'small fortunes' have we thrown away! One quilter's trash is another quilter's treasure! lol

It is a just an instruction page you can print out, not the book. It shows several ways to sew your strips.

Also, saw one place too selling selvages. Last month, one blogger who has a quilt shop offered her Kaffee Fassett scraps for 9.99 (with selvages too) but only had a limited supply and think you had to use a coupon from her web. Yes, they would have been a treasure to me!!
