Oh my! That gives me a thought!!!!! We have a one room cabin on the property that is nice and roomy. It has a wood stove in it. We used to camp in it when my uncle was alive and lived in the house we live in now. We are just using it for storage. It is definitely livable. We could fix it up, run electricity out there. Don't really need water. Can bring that from the house. It would be really great! My DH could use half of it for an art studio also! Oh my! Oh my! Thank you for making me think of this!!!!!
Yes, I want to be her too.

We put a small cabin in our back yard for a scummy BIL--you don't know how badly I want to boot him out and have my own quilting studio. The cabin was brand new 2 years ago but I know it would have to be cloroxed top to bottom before I would move in there with my machines and fabric! But I dream of it all the time.

God Bless You for caring about family no matter how difficult it is! I will say a prayer that it works out for you to have more room!

We had a speaker at our quild years ago that told this story. " My husband left me and I was sitting on the bottom of the staircase feeling sorry for myself. I looked over at the living room and thought, This would make a great sewing area. I had a wood floor put in and went to town."
That is what I call making lemonade out of lemons. It's hard to keep a quilter down. Our hobby gives us so much pleasure.

When we bought our three bedroom house we did not have enough furniture to fill all the rooms. The garage had already been used for living space - so that was the "play room." We had one child and so turned the small "extra" room into my sewing room. five years later we got a huge surprise - baby #2!! So, I lost my sewing room and took over 1/2 the playroom as my own. We have gone - in 15 years and now 3 kids from an echoing empty house to a house so stuffed that it is always messy. LOL of course, people keep trying to "store" their stuff in my sewing space - but I won't have it! I have enought stuff of my own there!

ROFLMBO! That pic looks like my kitchen except i only have one small singer. But i do have a 60x60 table that is currently covered in fabric I did have it all put away and organized till i started the granddaughters 1st bday quilt i have managed to pull it all out, well not all but most of it.
My son was complaining about the table being full he says this is a kitchen table you know! And I told him when there is fabric on it it is a sewing table if its clean its a kitchen table. So now we pretty much eat in the living room on trays. I saw someone else does the same thing so now i dont feel so bad. Good thing there is no holidays coming up that i will need the table for. LOL!

I thought I was bad, but I can see I'm a rank amateur.
I moved from our very small office/computer room into the bedroom left vacant when my granddaughter went off to college. I thought it would be perfect. There was a double door closet, three blank walls, and a decent size window. But I have filled it up already and am bursting at the seams. How did I ever manage with the smaller room? However we will be downsizing into a smaller house as soon as my husband retires in January. My DH tells me that I have way too much stuff for "just a simple hobby" like quilt making. So, I've been warned that a lot of it will have to go. We will not have the extra bedroom/quilting room. I can't even imagine how I can get rid of as many of my things as he says I'll have to. What I'm thinking of is leading him by the nose to a house (hopefully I'll find the right one) that has a Florida Room, or enclosed porch. Then I'll convince him that we don't need a room like that for the purpose it was meant for, and I will, quick as a bunny, swoop in with all my quilting stuff and get it set up before he knows what hit him. When it's a done deal it will be too much work to change it. I may end up better off because it'll have more windows which means better natural light. What do y'all think? Is this a possibility?

Why do they try to change us? I dont know about anyone else - but I think I am getting the idea we are all passionate about our sewing! Why do they want to take this away from us? Why? WHY?!!!!!
