The oysters are good, deep fried or smoked. Clams are okay for me, but no Sardines. I don't like the looks, taste or smell of them either.

I'm not big on seafood even though I come from a famiily who loved it.
I think you are confusing sardines and anchovies. Anchovies are the salty ones that lose that excess saltiness when combined with other foods and cooked.

Sardines are much bigger than anchovies, come in a larger size tin, smell just like cat food when opened and are not salted in the canning process like anchovies.

As a Child my dad and I would eat "little fishies"from Delmonte in a large oval can with tomato sauce. I also love herring in cream sauce. Last Spring in Holland we stopped at an outdoor shop in a town square. They were preparing herring mildly pickled to eat right there. I have pictures of DH holding the tail and lowering the headless cleaned fish into his mouth for a bite.
Yes I did try it. More firm than sardines but truly delicious.

Mousie, They are cleaned of inards . You can eat the bones or not . Full of calcium. They do lift out easily. I'm not crazy for the crunch of the back bone.

Oh yeah! Those in mustard sauce! Kippered Snacks years ago with crackers was a whole meal - but I can't find them anymore, but they sure were cheap enough - 10 cents a big can..... just loved them.
