BUT, I can't help myself - I love it! For sentimental value more than anything. It hangs on the wall facing our bed and I often just study the fabrics in it because individually, they're beautiful! It can't be washed because of all the different fabrics, that's why it's hung on the wall.

PS Sorry the photo's so dark - it's night here and the light in our room is dim but believe me, that's the best way to look at it!
BTW the pink feather boa got hung up there recently - I had it for a fancy dress party!

Hi sunny:
To answer your question I bit the bullet and decided that if I was going to make this quilt then I had to quilt it myself or it would not be mine to claim. Besides, I was doing this for my son and his wife so I wanted it to be something that they could remember me by. Though far from perfect I am very proud of what I did.
I used in the ditch around all the blocks. On the purple border I did diagonal lines about 3 inches apart. This was all machine quilted. Then I did a flower and leaf vine type of design around the outside border and a butterfly in each corner, that was all hand quilted. I have been doing all my own quilting ever since. Now starting my 12th quilt and loving every minute of it.
Thanks for taking an interest.

Hi JoanneS,
I did piece the tiny quilt using 3/4 inch strips. The squares are not very even, but I thought that made it suitable for a quilt that was spread out on a lawn! I embroidered the quote: The stars are wide and alive, they seem each like a smile of great sweetness, and they seem very near......and who shall ever tell the sorrow of being on this earth, lying on quilts on the grass, in a summer evening, among the sounds of the night.

Something else that I embroider on baby quilts 'We have 2 gifts for our children, roots to grow and wings to fly.'
