WHEW! Seven days!? Sometimes, (but ONLY sometimes ; ) ), I wish I lived alone so I could quilt all day long...all night, too, if I wanted to! lol
Nice job! I really like the way the plaids went together, along with a lot of heartfelt caring, I'm sure!

I have a 32 foot fifth wheel with a super slide. Maybe 50 square feet of quilting room. It was tight with the ironing board. And on top of that I did not take my adjustable height table for cutting. I used the dinette table which killed my back squaring up the blocks. But worth the trouble.

There was no pattern. When I was looking for a friendship block for people to sign, I punched into Google and looked at photos. A couple of ladies from both my guilds helped me with the measurements. The measurements that I used are as follow: the center white strip is 2 1/2" X 5" and the outer strips are 2" X 5" (these are cutting measurements), the triangles are a 5" square cut in half. Sew the centers strips together and press towards the dark. Than add the same fabric triangles by centering (eyeballing). When sewing put the triangles on the bottom to all the feed dogs to deal with the bias edges and then press towards the dark. Lastly add the solid triangle by eyeballing center sewing with the triangle on the bottom to allow the feed dogs to deal with the bias edges. Press towards the dark. At this point, I starched the square pretty heavy. Square up the block to 7 1/8". The center I used a t-shirt, with a light weight stabilizer, with the camp logo with a 1" black border. After all the blocks have been joined, I added another 1" black border and then a 4 1/2" outer border.

It was the first time that I did a "masculine" quilt. My friend came over and we fumbled through my fat quarters and picked out every plaid with a few checkers. I was a little skeptical, but half dead as the day before I went to the AQS Quilt Show in Grand Rapids and was gone for 17 hours. When I started the process, I was quite surprised how well it worked out. I have more of the fabric and I am planning on making another top just because it was a lot of fun to do.

Chuck, what a beautiful quilt for a very good friend. Roger's sure lucky to have a friend like you! May his health issues be resolved fast! I know, what from what you say, that he was surprised & grateful for the kind gift.
