Just a couple of days ago, I was working on a Halloween tablerunner. It was made with three 12-1/2" squares, and the ends were to be triangles so it would be pointy. I'd just bought some $12.99/yard fabric specifically for this table runner, and had bought exactly enough. (I usually don't spend that much if I can help it ... I wait for a sale or a coupon!)

Anyway, I got the three squares sewn together, reached for the triangle end pieces, and they were GONE. I turned this room upside down trying to find them. They're just GONE.

Since that's all of the fabric I had, I couldn't re-cut them, and I didn't have transportation back to the store. I had to finish my tablerunner differently than planned. Grrr!

In the end, it turned out relatively okay, but it sure was frustrating.

And I STILL haven't found those triangle pieces! I figured they'd turn up as soon as the tablerunner was finished, but apparently they sprouted legs and walked right out the door.

I quilt in my lap and have sewn to my pants on many occasions. Not far - cause I can't turn the piece really quickly. I've cut wrong, sewed wrong, ran out of fabric - ok, well almost all of these things. The worst was when I cut ALL of the pieces I needed for a quilt and had reversed the lights and darks. Then I had to come up with an entirely new plan. Guess what ? It worked out great and stretched me to something new. Sometimes mistakes are the right thing to do. And - I feel your pain!

Only 8 inches?? I have gone 2/3 around a quilt, unpinning the binding as I went! We have all done something like that, and you are absolutely right! Time to quit and look at something else for awhile! That is when I come and sit on the Quilt Board site!! Need that positive warm, fuzzy!

It's time to quit for the day when you sew through your thumb..... twice!! Yes, I really really did that!! Fortunately, it was only the very edge of my thumb first time, edge of nail second time..... My darling grandma used to say to me when it comes to sewing,... haste makes waste!! Sure does!! Lesson learned! OUCH

When you have to tear out every other piece of your block because it went in wrong. I tore out three pieces before giving up for the night and going to bed.
