I have had good results drying long pieces of fabric in the great big dryers at some laundromats.

They do wad up/tangle dreadfully in small dryers.

I try to remember to look at the grain lines of fabric before purchasing it. Especially to see if the design is printed on-grain.

If the design is printed off-grain, nothing will fix it. The choices are to live with it or not purchase it.

It depends on what I am making whether I prewash or not. If it is a quilt, I definitely prewash. I am working on one now, that one of the blues was a bleeder. It would have ruined the quilt had I not prewashed. I also like to get the shrinkage out of the way.

i think bleeding depends on the quality of the fabric. I only buy moda or kaufman for quilts. I find they never bleed.

I bought some fabric at the LQS and it bled. Don't remember the brand name, tho. One was a brownish green print. Another was an intense yellowl

thats odd. I never had trouble with Kaufman. LQS isnt always the best quality.

Nope, I don't tear mine. And I don't want it torn when I buy it either. Don't like it.
