Quilting lore says that if you get ablood on your quilt while making it you have to throw it over the pitch of your house to drive evil spirits away.

I also sewed my finger a few weeks ago. Needle broke in my finger when it fractured the bone. Had to go to urgent care to have th needle removed and x-rays. They said this type of injury has a high risk of infection and some quilters have had to have there fingers amputated because of infection. I was put on anitbiotics for 15 days and also have to see a hand surgeon. I have needle guards on all my machines now.

I did that once while sewing a red skirt. When I got to the ER the nurse asked if it was a designer skirt with flesh? It was just a good thing the fabric was red! So I truly know what you must be feeling. Hope you don't get an infection.

Eeeeeew! Makes me hurt just reading about the needle in the finger. I've come close, had the needle slide off the fingernail. Boy! if that doesn't keep a person wide awake for the rest of the sewing.

Yiiiikes!!! I did that 45 years ago when 8 months pregnant with a 10 pound baby boy!!! Needle stuck in my middle finger underneath the nail pushing through fabric on an old machine...hubby pulled out the needle and proceeded to faint lol, lol!

I did that and had to go to the er to get it out. It went right though the middle of my finger nail and took a stitch. I had thread, broken needle and broken finger. Not a good thing.
