Thank you everyone for your kind words. I sent a PM to Green Fairy, but she doesn't get on the QB near as much as she used to. So here is what the judges comments were:

What an explosion of color and value
Chevron border effectively frames the action
Generally very good piecing technique. Some unsecured seams and chopped points
Generally good quilting technique, tails should be trimmed.
    Quilting designs are effectively placed
Bindings are secure however edges should run straight.

OK me again to comment on the judges comments. Not quite sure what she meant by unsecured seams, I wasn't aware of any seams that were popping apart on this quilt. I will have to look it over carefully to see if I can find what she is talking about. chopped points I will concede, there were a few.
Tails from the quilting?? I went over the quilt pretty carefully trimming any loose threads when I got it back before binding it. Thought I had caught them all. Guess I must have missed one.
To see Judi's exquisite quilting on this, go to her post of it:
    http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-49742-1.htm

Finally, not quite sure what she meant about the edges of the binding should be straight. Maybe when I brought it around to the back to stitch down, there were places where it did come in a little deeper than other places and it would have been very visable with a dark red binding on a light beige back if one was looking for that. I will have to look again to see if it looks wavey from the back.

Here is what the judge wrote about my other quilt in the show which was a hand quilted mariner's compass:

    Dynamic visual drama
Quilting designs are effectively placed and add interest and intrigue
    Piecing is generally very good
Quilting stitch should be consistently sized front and back
All design elements work to unify this quilt
Very Central medallion could be more smoothly curved

All in all it was a great experience. I would not hesitate to have another quilt judged for feedback like this.

Thanks so much for posting the comments.

I think a lot of newer quilters think that they're going to be getting a report card from the Quilt Police if they enter a show, and are hesitant because they don't want a whopping. ;-)

But it's good to show that the comments are respectful, and reflect what that ONE judge saw.
It can very gently inspire or direct a person to improve in certain areas (if they so choose).

There really isn't a score of 100 (unless you're Sharon Schamber).
Not getting a 100 doesn't mean there is anything fundamentally wrong with a quilt either.

    Great to share the information.

And I am so stealing that border pattern. ;-)

Again, that depends on the show.

The Vermont Quilt Festival uses a score sheet, and they award ribbons according to how you score - so it is conceivable that you could get 100. It's also possible for there to be more than one first, second and third in any category. I like it because it gives me a clearer picture of what the judge liked and didn't like. The comments are helpful too, but they're usually briefer than Feline Fanatic's comments.
