I am working on a quilt, I have some 10 inch pic of ducks which I am adding strips of browns, reds, blues and so on. This is a manly quilt that I am giving to a local pizza restaurant to raffle off for the "feed the hungry kids" program.

My girls brought over their sewing machines. We taught the men how to do the cutting for the fabric. We did a production line sewing. WE MAKE 150 blocks for the Quilts of Valor. Even the men gat a kick out of signing their names as they had helped.
I usualy go the the cemetry and sit for an hour or so and thank all of them for my freedom.
My Grandson (7 years old)asked why I did that and I told him. He looked puzzled and I asked what was the problem. 'But GrandMaMa don't you always say the funerals are for the living not the dead. Why can't we help the living.' So, That is what the family did this weekend. We have started a new tradition 'Helping the Living'
Happy Memorial Day

yes, I am still working on the quilt "Jared Takes A Wife" from a workshop with Bonnie Hunter 2 weeks ago. Making slow but sure progress. This will be for me. So....Of course, I had other things that I should've been sewing on!!

I didn't get to work at the machine, but I am progressing on my Girls Day Out Pattern. I have 2 more blocks to finish and then I will put it all together. I changed a few of the blocks but mostly it is as it was printed. The pattern is a BOM from AU. I bought the pattern only from a vendor in Houston 2 years ago. I have to thank my Thursday quilt group for keeping me on track. Off to sew more basket blocks on a old UFO! Luann

Although I have had company since Thursday and they won't be leaving for a few more days, I did manage to start on the sawtooth border on my quilt. this is my first quilt, and although it isn't perfect, I am anxious to work on it at least a little each day regardless of company.

Boy did I. It was my quilds retreat this weekend. It was the first time I attended and I got so much done. Arrived at 9:00 a.m. on Friday and left at 1:30 on Sunday. I put sewed some blocks that I won from BOM together, sewed another set of blocks from a swap into a top (75% finished). Made some 2" pinwheels as leaders and enders for setting blocks for sashing on another top, completed a barn block for next months BOM and a tote bag as a group project. Didn't take my camera so sorry no pictures. It was so nice not to worry about cooking, cleaning or housework. No TV, phones or computer to distract you. The room was available 24 hours a day to sew when ever you wanted.

[QUOTE=katier825;6086538]This is the first weekend in about 4-6 weeks that I've had the chance to sew without either babysitting or having company...and yesterday I hurt my back. I managed to finish piecing a top and have the back cut, but not sure if I will be able to piece it. I can't sit too long or it's very painful when I do move. I have a very small area to sew in the bedroom, but no dedicated space to quilt. When I quilt, I have to rearrange things on the porch. I'm just not up to that and handling the weight of any quilts. Good thing none have a deadline! I'm disappointed because quilting is my mental escape from a stressful job...and it's been very stressful lately, so I need lots of "therapy"
I am sooo sorry you are having pain wich limits your quilting! Maybe you can set aside this exquisite top and begin piecing another until you start feeling better? I have always been intrigued watching Jenny from Missouri Star Quilts since it appears she stands while she pieces.
Get better soon!
