Will my quilts ever get better?

Will I ever get "good"? I still cant do good triangle points, and wouldn't dream of tackling a circle!
I have always done my own quiliting, mostly by hand, but I have some bigger quilts in the works, and honestly, I am afraid to send them off to be quilted. I am afraid "they" will think my quilts are too terrible to even quilt!

Try taking pictures of your own quilts and see how much better they look!

Quilting is like golf...you should play only to improve your own score...not to BEAT someone else!! and just like golf, learning new techniques is the only thing that 's going to improve your own score!! My first quilt had me up into the middle of the night because I was so excited to get the rows sewn together...Next morning I saw the last row was upside down. I did NOT take it out!! It's my humility row...since only God is perfect!!
Newberry, SC, note house in bottom row is upside down

I have been pretty quiet on this board for the past couple of weeks because I was attempting to make my first "real" quilt for a dear friend's 90th birthday present. I was getting very frustrated because I could see all the flaws and I wasn't sure that it was good enough to give to anyone, let alone for such a special occasion.
Well, I did manage to complete the quilt (Ballerinas by Heidi Pridemore, since my friend loves the ballet and was a ballet teacher for many years) and gave it to her last Sunday. The following day I got a phone call from my friend to tell me that she had taken the quilt around to show all her friends and neighbors, and had had photos taken of herself with the quilt!
Lesson learned - don't sweat the small stuff since others do not see all the flaws that we do ;-)

Being new to quilting, can relate to stephanib123 ... granted, see my blocks getting better at consistent size and points more often aligned, but gosh, want to be good NOW at piecing, and want to be good at machine quilting too!

Perhaps we should start a thread with our first quilt and you would see some far from perfect quilts. We all start with baby steps and improve as we go. Some of us don't improve that much LOL!! The idea is to have fun doing what you do, at your own skill level.

You know, I've read each and every response, and I've really listened. I've found myself thinking on what you all have said a lot this past week. I even posted some of my blocks on here! I was so afraid to, LOL!
But, everyone made me feel great, and I learned the coolest piecing trick that ever was!
Honchey taught it to me, let me see if I can just repost her message, I know some of you other newbies will want to see it.
THANKS, everyone!
