Electric or treadle? I think that's how its spelled lol. I have a chance to trade for one or the other. Both are old black singers ill post a pic when I get home but I don't know if I would be able to use the foot peddle one. What do u think? Oh and both come with cabinets :)

I'd go for both, if the price is right! I have a treadle, and am awaiting delivery of a featherweight. I love the treadle-they're easy to use and maintain. I guess it depends on what type of old electric Singer it is. Have you checked what similar machines are going for on ebay? Some have very little value. What sort of condition are each of them in?

Depends on what you want to do, but both could be used to do about anything related to quilting.

Once you post the pics, I am sure everyone would be able to give you better advice.

I have 2 treadles and both are tuned up but I have not had the time to learn how to use them. I will one of these days. I have 2 older vintage machines (Singer and White) and a FW-love them all!

I would go for the treadle, but then that is because we often seem to get power cuts here, and it's nice/quicker to use compared to the hand crank I have so I wish I had the opportunity to buy one.

I have both and always use electric. If you do not know how to treadle there is a learning curve. But that said I love having a treadle and it is smack in the middle of my living room. I would like to practice sewing on it this summer. So yes, if you can get both, get both. I have maybe 10 vintage electric sewing machines, one hand cranck, two treadle heads and one treadle base. They are so much fun!
