I have a hand embrodiered quilt that my mother had professionally quilted over 20 years ago. It is just beautiful! I noticed a stain on it- in my guest bedroom. I used a tide stick to see if that would take care of it. Instead, the red thread ran.... What should I do? This quilt has been in storage and never washed.
Thanks in advance. I don't want to further harm it. It has sentimental value.

I had a hand embroidered quilt with red thread in the same situation. I washed it with color catchers and it came out fine. It may have been luck, but it worked for me.

    I would try color catchers.

I don't know but red thread always ran badly. Good luck and hope someone can help you.

Thanks! I've got color catchers- just really nervous about doing it. Should I hand wash or use machine?
