Default Have you ever used felt for a design board?

I'm thinking about making a new design board. But, instead of using flannel, I thought about using felt. Has anyone ever tried this?

Yes with great results! More stability than flannel because it's thicker. Also more coverage because of width and you can glue it down without the glue bleeding thru (be frugel with the glue).

I use Warm and Natural batting--perfect. It is in my hallway and held tight with big push pins.

I used felt for quite a while and it worked okay. Then a few months ago I decided to try batting (Warm and Natural) and it works so much better than the felt. Blocks stay put!!

mine is felt and I like it a lot. However, I have noticed that when I am sewing rows together and they get a little heavier I have to use a pin to keep it up and not fall down. It isn't something that bothers me that much, but I think when I get a more permanent place to have the board I am going to glue it down instead of just the push pins holding it up.

I just use the table cloth things and roll them up over the door when not in use - saves me enough space that I put up with the minor inconveniences.

I use flannel but some said they use fleece and it works even better. No pinning...it just sticks...even the big blocks stick.

I use felt and it is good. I liked how wide it was so have a big square on my wall. I do find that once rows are sewned together I have to use a pin sometimes, especially when the window is open.
